Road trips are an adventurer’s dream come true. There cannot be anything more exciting than just hitting the road without a meticulous plan and a specific destination. You have the freedom to keep exploring places as they come on the way. But everything about road trips is not as thrilling as it sounds. You have to make sure that you pack smartly and carry everything that you may need when you are in the middle of nowhere. Here are a few items that you should absolutely take along.

Spare tire

Your car is what is going to carry you on the road trip and its tires should be in the top shape. Even after you ensure that there are still chances of tire trouble when you set off for long journeys. A spare tire or two can insure your vehicle against such problems and make your trip safe.

Empty gas can

Another item that you cannot miss when embarking on a road trip is an empty gas can. What if you run out of fuel when the nearest gas station is miles away? A gas can comes to your rescue as you can hitch a ride and get it filled to bring back gas for your car.

Plenty of fluids will keep you hydrated during a road trip, which is something crucial when you travel long-distance. Carry water and juices to last you through the journey. You may also find some stores, like Walmart, on your way. A smarter way is to take along Walmart flyers for discounts and offers so that you can shop for food and drinks at the lowest prices from a store on the way.

First aid kit

A first aid kit is another essential for a road trip because you may need it at any time. Small cuts and wounds are common and so are insect bites. Carrying a first aid kit with basic supplies like bandages, antiseptic ointments and gauze keep you protected. Carry some medicines for common ailments as well.

Offline Mapping Tech

Google maps have created a buff of enthusiasm within the traveling community. With offline mapping mode, you can save any location or area and access the guide whenever you need it. Even in places with no connectivity. The best part is you can search “stores near me” in case you need to refill any of your supplies on the go. And there’s absolutely no need for an internet connection at all.

Good Floor Matt

You’re bound to get dirty on your road trip. Whether you’re hiking, biking, or camping, mud, and dirt are inevitable, especially if you’re doing some offroading in a 4×4 like a Jeep. If that’s the case, investing in solid floor mats is a good idea. Otherwise, you may ruin the lining of your car. If you don’t want to invest in new floor mats, make sure to clean your shoes before entering the car, and/or put something else down to line the floors. My budget pick is the newspaper!

Sunscreen and sunglasses

Personal care is a big concern for people going on road trips. So you must pack a good quality sunscreen along with a pair of sunglasses to keep yourself sun-safe. Consult your dermatologist to understand the best sunscreen for your skin type. You can use some online coupons to buy a nice pair of branded sunglasses if you don’t have one. We definitely recommend Ray Ban sunglasses. They look great and are of exceptional quality too.

Do carry a blanket as well because you may have to sleep in your car more than once on a road trip. A blanket not only keeps you warm but also protects you from mosquito bites and makes your car more comfortable despite the space constraints.

Leaving for your road trip without these items can get you in a fix. If you still need to buy stuff, just reach one of the nearest stores at its opening hours and pick everything you want before you start for the trip.
