5 Wineries You Should Visit When In NSW, Australia
If you’re a lover of fine and regional Aussie wines, then there’s a good chance that New South Wales is on your list when it comes to holidaying and experiencing wineries that are offering some of the best bottles in the country and arguably the world.

With countless wineries making the Hunter Valley and Highlands home, you’ll be able to find plenty of these wineries in one easy location and with a hire car, you will have no trouble at all seeing at last three to four of these over the course of a single weekend.

For our readers looking to experience the best wineries in NSW, we have a list for you below that will take your experience in the region to a whole new level.

Scarborough Wine Co

Coming in at number one on our list is the Scarborough Wine Co winery and we’re happy to say that this may be one of the best wineries in the entire region.

It is one of the wineries in the area that doesn’t turn away kids and you’ll be able to experience the vineyard and adjacent wine packing and dining spaces too.

Purchased back in 1978 this winery has decades under its belt and with wine flavour profiles challenging those from the likes of France and the American Andes, we’re certain you’re going to want to make this vineyard one of the top spots on your list to visit in NSW.

Margan Hunter Valley Wines

Another outstanding winery to push toward the top of your list this season is the Margan Hunter Valley Winery in the Hunter Valley.

The winery is the recipient of a number of awards which also mean it nabbed a Gold Award from the Australian Tourism Awards in 2015 for being the Best Tourism Winery in the region. If that isn’t enough to get you pining for a visit to the Margan Hunter Valley Winery, we’re not sure what is!

Add to this the fact that you’ll find the winery is a sustainability-focused operation and you’re also able to experience the unique Garden to Plate School of Cooking that gives you the chance to get right into the thick of it when it comes to whipping up some great meals while you’re on your trip through the Hunter.

The Mount Ashby Vineyard Cellar Door

If you’re not looking toward the Hunter Valley this year, we have some suggestions for you in the Southern Highlands, and that is the Mount Ashby Vineyard sitting just outside Moss Vale – which means it’s really easy to find your way here without an issue.

There aren’t too many wineries remaining in this region, however, the Mount Ashby Cellar Door has stood the test of time and the continuing push for dairy farming in the area.

This is one of our top choice wineries if you’re looking to experience one of the best, curated wine tasting experiences in the NSW Highlands and for those who are keen on getting one of the more eclectic winery experiences with both red and white wines on offer.

There is even furniture and other knick knacks on sale here that might make the ultimate addition to the shabby-chic home.

Bendooley Estate Winery

Sitting just outside Bowral, the Bendooley Winery is one of the largest out there and is spread across a massive 80-hectare estate that ensures you’re really getting away from it all and surrounding yourself with rows and rows of grapevines.

The estate is managed by Jonathan Holgate and Ben Brazenor who are both exceptionally hands-on when taking care of the vineyard is concerned, and so you’ll be able to almost taste the difference here when compared to a lot of other wineries across the state.

You’ll have the chance to taste some excellent chardonnay, riesling and pinot noir and a lot more, so have your wine-tasting boots on.

There is also one rather unique perk here too, with a 170-year-old pine making up the bar, something that certainly demands an Instagram post.

Tertini Wines

A few minutes drive out of Mittagong you’ll find the Tertini Wines’ vineyard, which is a winner of the Best Cellar Door award by Gourmet Traveller back in 2015.

You’ll find some excellent cool-climate wines coming into play here, along with a wide range of cheeses that pair perfectly with just about everything you’ll be tasting in this sprawling hillside estate.

As a family-owned winery, the estate offers a unique touch that can’t be found in too many other wineries in the region, and if you’re interested in experiencing just what it’s like to operate a winery with your closest relatives, you can feel free to ask the friendly team.

With our list of some of the best wineries in NSW out of the way, we’re sure you’re all set with an excellent itinerary that has you prepared to experience some of the best wine that not only Australia has on offer, but indeed the world.

Always be sure to take a peek at what each winery has on offer and tailor your stay to your interests and favourite flavour profiles.
