How To Have A Relaxing Evening When You’re Out Camping
In the middle of a camping trip that isn’t going too well? We hear you! Camping is actually quite tiring, can be pretty boring, and doesn’t feel like time well spent when you head home again.
And if that’s the kind of thing you’re worried about right now, let’s make sure you have at least one relaxing night to yourself! Here are a few things you can do to turn a bad camping trip on its head and start living and enjoying yourself in the moment.

Hookup at a Camp Site
If you’re not at one already, take a look now (if you’ve got the service for it) and see where the nearest RV park can be found. Once you’ve got the address, see if you need to prebook a spot for it, and then head along ASAP to hookup the vehicle for the night.
In doing so, you get yourself out of the space where you feel like you’re doing nothing but wasting your time. And in going to a properly manned campground, you give yourself the opportunity for a bit of light, fresh water, and some much needed social interaction!
Set Up a Fire
If you know how to, and if you’re camping somewhere where small, tended fires are permitted, why not set one up? It’s easier to do than you might believe, if this is your first time ever trying it out.
But if you have all the right materials in the van, and just not gotten around to using them yet, put them to good use right now. It’ll break up the mundanity of the camping evenings you’ve gotten used to, and you might just find you’re a lot handier than you thought!
Plus, once your fire is set up and burning, you can cook plenty of fireside snacks on it too. S’mores, toasted bits, veggie kabobs, etc., are all great to roast slowly over an open flame like that.
Enjoy the Hobbies You Like
You don’t have to commit to natural activities just because you’re camping! And if it’s been multiple nights of laying out under the stars and trying to find Ursa Minor without success, give it up! Instead, just try out a hobby you actually do like.
Really, do something you enjoy and don’t feel you should try to be more present in the moment. Being outside is enough. Being considerate to your surroundings is enough. Now it’s time for you to relax!
You don’t have to force yourself to be ‘at one with nature’. Camping is already enough of a bore for you, and if you have no interest in trying to map out the stars or learn what certain tree leaves look like off by heart, don’t do it!
Relaxing when you’re camping might be quite hard for you, and if you’re honest, the issue is sort of ruining the whole trip! And if that’s the case, it’s time to plan a relaxing evening that actually works!
