How To Make Your Commute Part Of Your Vacationing Experience
Heading from point A to point B is often what we consider “the commute” to our vacation. But of course, your vacation doesn’t begin the moment you arrive at the hotel. It starts when you leave your front door and explore this wide, amazing, strange world of ours.
If you usually find yourself dreading your forward path, then making the commute part of your experience could be the healthiest step forward. Not only does it give you more time to enjoy, but you can bake this into your travel plan by focusing on something else than “gettin there as fast as possible.” All of a sudden, hours and days open up, and there are many options to work through. But how are we to go about that? It’s not always clear.
Without further ado, please consider some of the following advice to spice up those travel adventures a touch more:
Slow Boat Travel
If you rarely step on boats, enjoying slow boat travel can be lovely. You could hop on a river cruise if needed of course, but you may also enjoy Jaco fishing charters which also let you enjoy a hobby as well. There’s something romantic about traveling by boat which is why many proposals and romantic getaways also take place on slow steamers.
Calm Road Trips & Campers
It’s nice to feel untethered, and a road trip helps you with exactly that. A camper van or RV can make the journey part of your vacation if you’d like, or you can simply camp. On a road trip you can generally stop wherever looks interesting, cook your own meals for a time, and sleep under the stars if you want – just make sure you’re in a legal spot and it’s safe to do so. You can cover a long distance this way and doing so is much better with friends.
First Class As A Treat
You don’t have to be affluent to upgrade your experience, especially on long-haul commutes. Investing in comfy seats, good food, and maybe even a bed on long flights can turn a flight from something you fear to something you actively look forward to enjoy, and better yet, you arrive feeling refreshed instead of cramped and grumpy. It’s not something most of us can do all the time of course, but as a one-off treat, it can be pretty sweet, and perfect for a honeymoon or birthday trip.
Bring A Bicycle!
Many developed cities have cycle renting schemes, and they can be great to use as a tourist. Just stick to the simple areas and well designed routes, and you get some exercise, save money on taxis, and often find little spots you might have missed otherwise. Just make sure to bring a good lock and follow local traffic rules.
With this advice, you’ll be certain to make the commute part of your vacationing experience. It can take a little time to get there, but doing so helps you see new dimensions of your travel adventure instead of feeling frustrated teleportation technology hasn’t been invented yet.
