Oktoberfest’s Gingerbread Hearts!
An old tradition at Munich’s famous Oktoberfest, these Oktoberfestherzenm or Oktoberfest Hearts, are given and received during the celebration. Baked out of gingerbread dough (lebkuchen) with two through-holes, they are strung with ribbon or string for display.
They are inscribed with a variety of messages ranging from love phrases to ‘It’s tapped’ in reference to the initial keg tapping by the mayor of Munich.
Our Oktoberfest Gingerbread Heart Cookies are inscribed with the YEAR (half), and the other half with OKTOBERFEST, and are decorated evenly with red, yellow, green, and blue icing.
You will find the tasty gingerbread hearts!
