How To Plan Your Travel Journey Ahead Of Time
As you travel through the mountains, hills and valleys of foreign landscapes, you’ll be lost in the amazement and sheer beauty of what befalls you. However, before you get to this point, let’s rewind. How did you get here? You got to this place because you planned for it. You thought about it, you marked it on the map and you made plans to travel and arrive at a certain time. This is not as easy as it sounds because when you’re in a faraway location, you cannot afford to make mistakes. Be wrong by one hour and you’ve missed the bus or train and the next one along might not come around for many hours or even days. So, here is your guide to planning your travel journeys effectively.
Group travel
You’ve probably heard of group travel by now. This is when you and your gang of merry men, formulate your own journey by using something like a charter bus. It’s quite effective traveling in a charter bus because you are controlling where you go, with all your luggage, all your friends, family and pets. So if you plan on going on a road trip in the mountains of Switzerland, with as many people as you’d like, this is the perfect way to travel.
Alternatively, if you’re using a train, you can book carriages for your group. This can allow for what’s called ‘party travel’. This is when certain holiday agencies work with train companies to offer group travel by carriage booking. So every seat in one carriage can go to the same party or multiple parties. Phone your agency to see if this is something they can arrange.
A day early
In the world of solo travel, there is never any reason for alarm if you are early. But there will always be a need for panic when you’re late. If you miss your train, bus or taxi, you may need to wait for hours and your money has been wasted. If you’re going on remote travels, such as through Central Asian countries like Mongolia, public transport is very few and far between. So remember, to always move a day early. Keep one day ahead of your planned travel destinations. If you want to be in Baku, Azerbaijan by 9 am on Monday, you start traveling towards it one Saturday, not Sunday!
Local apps
When you arrive in any country you’re intent on exploring, it’s always a good idea to download the local apps. This way you can know about the local news, weather and travel notifications. Not every large Western app will have the local information you need so don’t rely on things like Google News for accurate information, all the time. If you were in Japan, you would download the NHK app for news and weather. If you were in the UK, you would download the Met Office app for weather, travel restrictions, etc.
When you’re galavanting across the globe, you need to always stay ahead by 1 day. This helps you to be on time but also miss any potential delays harming your schedule.
