Reviewing Maaltalk: The Answer To High-Cost Travel Roaming Charges?

Who came up with the idea of roaming charges? You’d think we’d be able to live in a world where you can travel to a different country and browse the internet using your mobile network without incurring ridiculous fees. Alas, that’s not the case. Most networks charge outrageous amounts of money if you dare use your mobile data in a foreign country – but there is a genius way around this.

No, it doesn’t involve visiting a local store and picking up a local SIM card. Instead, you purchase an eSIM that lets you use mobile data without getting hit with massive roaming charges as you travel. All you need to do is find a reliable eSIM provider, which brings us to this review.

Say Hello To Maaltalk – A Global eSIM Provider

Maaltalk is the answer to the question, can I enjoy fee-free roaming when I travel? It’s won awards for its eSIM deals, but how does it all work?

Well, after testing Maaltalk and buying one of the eSIMs, here’s a quick insight into what happens:

  • You purchase an eSIM from their website, and they will send you an email with the activation details
  • You then head to your phone’s settings and find the option that lets you add an eSIM
  • Here’s where it gets really easy: Maaltalk gives you a QR code that you can scan with your phone to add the eSIM automatically
  • Alternatively, it will provide a code in the email for you to enter manually
  • It’s then a case of naming the eSIM on your device so you don’t confuse it with your regular SIM card

That’s it; you now have an eSIM that will work in a different country. What country will it work in? Well, Maaltalk offers plans for over 180 countries and regions in the world. You decide where your eSIM will work when placing an order. You can order an eSIM to work in a single country or pick one that works in a specific continent – there’s even a global eSIM that’ll work in over 70 countries worldwide.

When you’re ready to use the eSIM, you simply head back to your settings and find the option that lets you select an eSIM. Click on the one you bought from Maaltalk, and it’ll be ready to use right away.

What Are The Benefits Of Using Maaltalk While You Travel?

One of the main advantages of using a Maaltalk eSIM is that you feel like a local. You can walk around foreign towns or cities with full bars and a stable internet connection. Your eSIM will connect to the local networks – and it always finds the best coverage to make life easier and avoid periods where you’ve got no connection.

As well as that, there’s a clear benefit to picking up one of these eSIM plans: it saves you a mini fortune in roaming fees!

Data roaming kicks in the moment you use your mobile data in a country that your network provider doesn’t cover. To give an idea of how bad it is, roaming fees can be anywhere from $4 – $15 per megabyte. That’s daylight robbery – but an eSIM from Maaltalk can cost under $16 for unlimited data that lasts 30 days and can be used across 36 European countries.

It’s so much cheaper, but that’s not all. Maaltalk has a series of additional benefits that make your travel experience even better:

  • Free eSIMs for new customers: Every new customer can get a 1 GB eSIM for free to test the service before committing to anything.
  • Amazing carrier service: Maaltalk has a fantastic network of carriers to ensure you receive brilliant coverage throughout your trip. As long as you’re not underground or in a cave, you’ll always see bars on your phone.
  • Great 5G coverage: Enjoy speedy internet browsing with 5G connections wherever possible. If it’s not, then you still get decent 4G connectivity.
  • Access to the MaaltalkNow app: All Maaltalk customers can download a free app that gives them an AI-powered trip advisor. This advisor can help you find out what to do during your trip, and it’s even capable of providing live translations.
  • Keep your original number: Unlike picking up a local physical SIM card, Maaltalk’s eSIMs let you keep your original number. You can set it to receive calls and texts to the number from home, yet use the eSIM for mobile data.

Is There Anything Holding Maaltalk Back?

Look, perfection is near enough impossible to find, but Maaltalk gets pretty close. If you want a global eSIM provider, then this one offers just about everything you need. After a good time testing an international eSIM and enjoying the benefits above, there was only really one thing that stood out as maybe holding Maaltalk back.

The eSIM validity duration could be a bit better.

When you purchase your eSIM, it has two validity periods:

  • One that stipulates how long you have to use the eSIM
  • One that tells you how long the eSIM will last once you activate it

The first one is usually between 30-90 days, which means you buy an eSIM and need to activate it within that period, or it won’t work. This could be a bit longer – what’s the harm in letting you have over a year or an unlimited time to activate your eSIM?

With the second one, you get to choose the validity duration yourself as part of the plan – which is nice, but 30 days is the maximum. What if you’re traveling for more than 30 days? You need to purchase the plan again, which is slightly inconvenient. Again, it would be nicer to have some longer validity date options here.

The Verdict: Say Goodbye To Roaming Charges

No matter which way you look at it, Maaltalk is such a fantastic option for removing any roaming charges altogether. You buy a cheap eSIM online, activate it at your convenience, then enjoy up to unlimited data roaming while abroad. Whether you’re away for a few days, traveling around the world for months, or planning a week-long trip with friends, now you can do so without blowing a hole in your bank account on roaming fees!
