The Transfagarasan is one of the most famous roads in Romania, and even in Europe and rest of the world, due to the height at which it was built, beautiful landscapes and many switchbacks.
Built between 1970-1974 on the personal orders of communist politician Nicolae Ceausescu, the highway stretches some 150km, passing over the Fagaras mountains in Transylvania, Romania.
If it weren’t for co-owner, John Hathaway II, I wouldn’t have taken this road trip. I have to thank him for insisting that I take the road trip!
Not only that, I’m fortunate that Autonom Rent-a-Car sponsored this trip. I couldn’t have done it without their car rental as well!
