Top 7 Places to Bungy Jump in New Zealand
Want to conquer the bungy jumps in the land where they all began? All over New Zealand you can jump from bridges, climbs, rail viaducts, specially made platforms perched on the edge of cliffs, and stadium roofs.
Ever since the day AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch set up New Zealand’s first commercial bungy operation in 1980’s, it’s like a rite of passage for everybody to go bungy jumping while they’re in New Zealand. It’s a must to take that heart-stopping leap of faith, especially if you’re a adrenaline junkie like me.
To help you get the most out of your bungy jumps in New Zealand, I’ve put together a guide of top seven places to bungy jump in New Zealand for y’all!
World’s First Commercial Bungy Jump
Seriously, we all only live once, so live it up for the world’s first commercial bungy jump.
Why would you want to miss out on the birthplace of the modern bungy craze and one of the most-wanted jumps on the whole planet? Nonetheless, it is one of most famous attraction in Queenstown and its adventurous spirit created Queenstown’s character. This is a must-do in New Zealand.
Here you can choose between classic single-man bungy, water-touching bungy and even tandem bungy for those who want to share in the exhilaration.

World’s First Harbor Bridge Bungy Jump in New Zealand
If you’re an Adrenaline Junkie like me, you’d spend your first full day in Auckland climbing up and jumping off Auckland Bridge then walking and jumping off the edge of the highest building, Sky Tower, in the heart of Auckland! And I actually did.
This city is home to the world’s first Harbor Bridge Bungy Jump operated. Not only that, it’s also World’s Only Ocean Touch Bungy! The famous bungy jumping inventor, AJ Hackett, is the operator of this jump. They were awesome to offer me a package that included Auckland Bridge Climb and Bungy, SkyWalk, SkyJump, and admission to the Tower.

World’s Highest Cliff Bungy Jump & Swing
Thrilling experience in an awesome location. You can choose from many different ways to make the fall and swing where each is rating on a scariness scale of one through to five. The fall and swing across the canyon happens quickly but then as you hang suspended above the river you have time to take in the whole scene. It does not jolt the body at all.
I had so much fun, and I loved the way the staff messed with me before both of my swings. The guides are masterfully sadistic to heighten the experience. Go ahead and jump twice like I did: one front and one back. Facing forwards and backwards are each their own unique and favorite experiences. Personally I found backwards fun and exhilarating, and forwards terrifying and exhilarating. Take your pick!

New Zealand’s Tallest Water Touch Bungy Jump
I wasn’t even scared before jumping at all, but I definitely had butterflies in my stomach and that was the best part because I love that feeling. I’m a little bit of an adrenaline junkie in that way.
The water touch felt friggin’ great!!! It might seem like it hurt when you slap into the water, but it didn’t even hurt a bit. I just loved it as it gave me a nice splash and cool off after the free fall.
Being nervous and whatnot before jumping is normal. Once you jump into a free fall, you’ll feel fearless and your insides would get all stirred up. I promise you that you will “find your scream” and it will be one of the best experience you’d ever had in your life.

New Zealand’s Highest Bungy

The Nevis Bungy in Queenstown is exactly what you’d expect from any tourist attraction in Queenstown – it’s high and terrifying. Like the bungy jumps in the area, it is about adrenaline, heights and overcoming fear.
If you’re hungry for the most daring of adrenaline fueled Queenstown activities then the Nevis is for you. I haven’t had the chance to check this off my bucket list, but I promise you all that I will check this off someday.

New Zealand’s Best Value Bungy

If you are on a budget but you still want to jump in the home of bungy jumping, you can do the bungy jump at Agroventure Adventure. I’ve gone here, but I didn’t bungy jump here. Instead, I took their Freefall Extreme and Schweeb.
