HOW DID SEEK THE WORLD STARTED?
Two Deaf cofounders founded Seek the World. One of the cofounders wasn’t happy with his real estate start-up at Rochester Institute of Technology. He still hadn’t accomplished his lifetime dream of traveling the world. His cofounder encouraged him to go and travel around the world.
They identified a problem: a lack of travel content in sign language. They took a challenge by starting Seek the World as a Deaf travel series to inspire and encourage the global Deaf community.
That is how Seek the World began.
WHY DID WE SHIFT OUR FOCUS TRAVEL TO DEAF STORIES?
The co-founder learned that Deaf content could be empowering, and the audience was attached to this content more than travel. The deaf story had become too important to ignore—so all of our energy went into creating Deaf stories.
Every story will significantly impact its audience, no matter how simple or profound it is.
WHAT IS SEEK THE WORLD TODAY?
Today, Seek the World is now running by one co-founder. It has become the world’s largest Deaf and sign language awareness platform that creates stories to educate, inspire, and empower the Deaf and sign language user communities.
Seek the World has expanded its team by collaborating with diverse Deaf filmmakers internationally. We work towards producing more diverse and meaningful stories.
